Puppetry Skills

This section will include various skills I have gained through puppet making

Pattern Making and Plastazote Construction

This process starts with a paper sculpture, using clingfilm and masking tape over the surface

Here is me during the adhesive process

Using the pattern pieces made previously the next step is marking out and cutting out the pieces in plastizote foam

This is the final and desired shape fully pieced together

Using EVO-Stick a contact adhesive to adhere the pieces together, using a heat gun to assist

The Dragon Taxi

Cardboard sculpting the tail and the tail mechanism

Adding strips of corrugated plastic to the edges

Testing the spray paint on the body

Foam Snipping

Marking out the shapes on the blue foam

Foam sniping

Adhering body with calico using evo-stick

Adding an extra foam piece in the middle to help with movement.

Fabric Rendering

Designers - Alexandra Kay, Jodie Yates

Using spray adhesive I applied dyed calico over the pre painted body.

Adhering twine in different patterns, over fingers and adding bumps over the back. This adds texture over the body.

The last step was to paint into the body, adding markings over the back and face. Dry brushing over the twine to help enhance the texture.

The process was the same for the tuxedo cat bellow.
