SFX Makeup
My passion for SFX makeup stems from my love of horror films. By adding an extra layer of realism, I can enhance the immersive experience of a genre, making the scenes more intense and the characters more believable.
Wrist infection
This set of makeup was done as context pieces for my surgical arm prop.
I used the images of the infection that led to the surgery image I used as my reference.
This was one using two-part silicone skin sculpt, rendered with alcohol paints.
I also used petroleum jelly to make the second stage look goopy.
Lightning scars
These were done as experimentation for makeup I did for the production of How To Hold Your Breath, I really love how these turned out.
They weren’t used as they were too naturalistic for the show.
These were done with alcohol paints.
Infected Scrapes
These were done as a general practice, and I used two-part silicone skin sculpt and alcohol paints.
For added texture and gore, I used synthetic puss inside the wound.
I also used a stipple sponge with blood and dragged it across the skin to give the effect of smaller scrapes/scuffs.
