Body casting ignites my passion as it offers a unique avenue to preserve not just a specific shape or moment but the essence of the human form itself. Beyond its artistic appeal, it serves as a remarkable tool for crafting prosthetics and props, adding depth and authenticity to various creative endeavours

Full Body Cast

  • Body Cast

This body cast was done without using alginate; we used an exclusively plaster bandage.

  • The Cast

This cast later became a corpse for a production.

  • Assisting

I assisted in this body cast, this was done using both alginate and plaster bndage.

Head Cast

As my goal was to create an opened mouth head cast the first step was for the model to bite into a handful of thickened alginate to get an impression of the inside of his mouth.

The next step was to apply a bald cap to protect his hair, I used Spirt Gum.

After I moved onto applying a thin coat of Vaseline over his his whole head to his shoulders.

Before applying the alginate the model popped the alginate mouth piece back into his mouth.

Then we could begin applying the alginate to him.

Once the alginate was set I began quickly applying the plaster bandage.

Once the separate front and back pieces of the mother mould were set I demoulded swiftly.

  • Fresh out the mould

This is how the head looked immediately out of the mould, with no major issues, but it was in need of a tidy-up.

  • Plaster sculpting

I wanted to smooth the back of the head so I added some thick plaster and then sanded it down.

  • Cleaned up

This is how the head was looking after I had tidied it up, I sculpted in the tip of his nose and mended some teeth.
